A Radical New Tate Museum Includes Pietronigro

September 2002 – July 2003

London — Susan Collins, curator of Tate In Space, a radical new site for the collection, curation and display of space art, has selected Pietronigro’s Research Project Number 33: Investigating the Creative Process in a Microgravity Environment and invited the artist to participate in an online discussion panel concerning the exhibition of art in space. Invited respondents to the discussion lists include artists, writers, scientists, architects, as well as curators and art historians, who will address and provoke debate on specific areas of interest over the course of the coming year.

Questions that will be addressed in the online panel include:

  • What issues do you believe placing art in space may raise in relation to both the visual arts and contemporary culture?
  • Might the function of art change when placed in outer space?
  • Who and where might be its audience?
